Meet Donella Wright, Lab Manager.
Donella’s commitment to excellence and positive attitude makes her an exceptional Lab Manager, who leads her team by example.
- How long have you been with the company?
Since January 2015. It’s been almost 9 years.
- How has your role evolved over time since you’ve been here?
I started as a Compliance Tester on a six month contract testing only two markets.. We thought we were super busy back then! Before too long new markets came on board, with bulk backlog market entry certification projects, or new game to market projects. Each new market entry aligned with the monthly certification of new content. I was made a permanent employee in July of 2015 and have not looked back since.
Over time and with promotion through the ranks of the Compliance Testing roles I was exposed to more clients and project management as well as the mentoring of new staff. Between this, the ever evolving complexity of the industry and the new market challenges there has never yet been a dull moment or two days the same. I am now the Lab Manager overseeing a big complement of staff.
- What do you like most about the work we do here?
We are blessed to be part of a dynamic industry with ever-evolving challenges. Whether this be in the form of new jurisdictions opening up that we need to analyse and understand, updated regulatory requirements, or updates to the interpretation of requirement in existing jurisdictions, there is always something new and exciting to tackle.
We are an awesome, professional and enthusiastic organisation that makes coming into the office an absolute pleasure, no matter what may await in your inbox. The staff commitment to delivering quality services to our clients is second to none and it is a privilege to work with such a dedicated team.
- What are your goals for the next year?
I would like to achieve my Level 3 technical official status as a lawn bowls umpire. Professionally, I would hope to continue to add value and be of service to the company, our client base and staff.
- What is the one thing that our clients don’t know about you that they would be surprised if they found out?
I play lawn bowls and am a Level 2 qualified technical official (umpire) for the sport. I completed my Masters in Medical Science, but soon discovered I was in a Lab, but not the right one. Furthering my experience and skill set, I ended up in the right Lab.
- When you were 5 years old what did you want to be when you grew up?
An archaeologist like Indiana Jones.
