About Us

Corporate Social Responsibility

We financially support and help with the following activities:

Child Welfare

We assist in looking after 280 children between the ages of 5 months and 7 years at Siyakhula Crèche. In addition, all children who have already graduated from the crèche are welcomed back each afternoon during term times for lunch and help with their homework... and so our Siyakhula family grows!

Animals

eCOGRA is the largest single donor to Plett Animal Welfare Services (‘PAWS’), an organisation that prevents cruelty to animals through proactive and reactive work.

We also contribute to the Bitou Community Vet Clinic for the sterilisation and vaccination of dogs and cats in poorer communities.

COVID-19

Great hunger has been prevalent in the Plettenberg Bay townships as a result of the COVID-19 lockdown. eCOGRA's efforts are focused on food supplies to the needy:

  • We have sourced and funded three tons of a product called e’Pap, which is a pre-cooked porridge containing a nutritious blend of maize, soya, vitamins and minerals. Our first consignment was delivered on 28 April 2020, and fed 1,500 children and adults for a month. This feeding scheme is also aimed at the familes of the Siyakhula Crèche, families of special needs children, foreign nationals such as Zimbabweans and Malawians who are unable to obtain local government support, and other Qolweni residents.
  • The setup and support of various soup kitchens within township communities, whereby we purchase and deliver soup ingredients that are then distributed by residents.
  • We also assist other organisations and foundations with the provision of food parcels to families.
